Daniel Diaz believes in the power of reality. This Rhode Island Hip Hop artist has always used his government name as his stage name and is also known as “Real” because every single thing he writes is true. He’d like to give hope to those who are broken and also help the new generation of emcees to be real with themselves no matter what their circumstances may be.
Daniel was born in Hackensack, New Jersey and then moved to RI at a young age. He’s also lived in Massachusetts and the Dominican Republic which helped broaden his creative energy early on. He first gained an interest in making music when his mother would play Merengue and Salsa around the house. It was something that’s stuck with him since he was 12 years old and first started writing lyrics. He cites Nas, Biggie, Common, Evidence, Black Thought, Wu-Tang and other Golden Age artists as direct influences on his craft.
“The greatest success is enhancing someone else’s life,” says Daniel. He sees himself achieving that goal by touching as many people as he can in the short time that we’re given on this planet. Be on the lookout for him if you support genuine boom bap rap.
