Voted Southeast Detroit’s #1 Country Singer

From the City that brought you Motown, Madonna, Kid Rock, Josh Groban, and Aretha Franklin, comes Singer/Songwriter Randy Jack; a Michigan native who’s authentic, unique country voice has a style of its own. A WCXI listener’s poll in Detroit voted Randy the #1 country entertainer in southeastern Michigan. Following the listeners voting, Randy headlined Detroit’s Best Country outdoor concert.

Born and raised in Michigan, Randy performed at the Michigan State Fair multiple times ahead of stars like Tony Orlando, Ray Charles, Ann Murray. He later shared the stage with country greats Ernest Tubb, Billy Crash Craddock, Jerry Lee Lewis, & Tanya Tucker, to name a few. He made multiple appearances on local TV in Detroit and wrote and performed the theme song to the local stars of tomorrow TV show on Channel 2. He also performed on the Soupy Sales Telethon on channel 20.  Even more than that, Randy has made appearances on channels 7 and 50.

Randy Jack is currently the 2018 MCGMA/OBCMA male vocalist and Entertainer of the year for independent country artists. On the national stage Randy Won two CMA awards at the North American Country Music Association International in Pigeon Forge TN. He was also the 2019 Male Horizon Entertainer of The Year and 2019 Male Rising Star Vocalist of The Year.

Randy has written several songs and his first album “Love is taking over” received great reviews. However, his new release “One of those nights” is thought to be his best work yet. Randy released his first Christmas Single “Wrap me in your love”; a song originally recorded by Joe Diffie on the Mr. Christmas album. This was the first single released and it received stellar reviews. Randy’s version of the song has that smooth country feel he is known for.

Randy Jack has been singing since he was a child. Encouraged by his family, he never let go of his love for music. Instead, he embraced it. After becoming one of the most well-known country artists in southeastern Michigan, Randy made a crucial decision to walk away from a promising career to be a Father to his two children who were back in Michigan.

Now, years later he’s brought back that distinct country voice and showmanship he is known for. Currently, you can find Randy in the July 2018 edition of Nashville Country Music Magazine with Tanya Tucker on the cover. Also, on Nashville’s Broadtube Music Channel. You can also read a full interview on Artistrack.com and SongPerk music blog. Early fans and new fans alike are all enjoying this new version of Randy Jack and you will too!

CHRIS JASPER Releases “The Way You Love Me”

A Classic soulful R&B ballad perfect for that slow dance with the one you love. From his forthcoming 17th Solo Album due out this summer…a collection of soulful R&B and Funk!

Chris Jasper is a former member and primary songwriter for the Isley Brothers (1973-1983) and Isley-Jasper-Isley (1984-1987). In 1988, Chris went solo and has released 16 albums of soulful R&B/funk in the same style as his earlier work.

INTRODUCTION

If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you know Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, CHRIS JASPER, an integral member of THE ISLEY BROTHERS during the 1970s and 1980s—their gold and platinum years—from the 3+3 (1973) to Between the Sheets (1983) albums. These were the years when THE ISLEY BROTHERS were a self-produced, self-contained group.

If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you have heard the music of CHRIS JASPER, who was primarily responsible for writing, arranging and producing all of THE ISLEY BROTHERS music during this time, including such beautiful love songs as “For The Love of You” and “Between the Sheets” and uptempo funk such as “Fight the Power.” His arrangements and instrumentation as a classically-trained musician, and his expertise on the keyboards and synthesizers, are the foundation of the legendary “Isley Brothers Sound.” When the six members of THE ISLEY BROTHERS disbanded in 1984, Marvin and Ernie Isley joined CHRIS JASPER and formed ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY.

CHRIS JASPER brought his “unique sound” and musical talents to ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY, and topped the charts singing lead vocals on “Caravan of Love” (1985), a song that was covered by English recording group, the Housemartins, an international #1 pop hit. “Caravan” was also used in commercials as part of a Dodge Caravan advertising campaign. Chris was also awarded a CEBA Award For Excellence for a Miller Brewing Company commercial. The music for that commercial formed the basis for “Brother to Brother” from the “Different Drummer” album, which supported the anti-apartheid struggle going on in South Africa at that time. His music has also been used in radio and television commercials, including “Who’s That Lady” (Swiffer) and “Between The Sheets” (L’Oreal).

When ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY disbanded (1987), CHRIS JASPER brought his “unique sound” to his own solo projects, topping the charts with “SuperBad,” a song promoting the value of education.  CHRIS JASPER has continued to write songs and produce his own R&B and Gospel music, as well as other artists, for his independent record label, Gold City Records.

CHRIS JASPER’s music has been covered and sampled by hundreds of new and established recording artists, including Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Fantasia, Will Smith, Alliyah, Queen Latifah, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Natalie Cole, Jaheim, Kendrick Lamar, and the list goes on and on.  His music has also been used in many movie and television soundtracks.

In 1992, CHRIS JASPER, along with the other members of THE ISLEY BROTHERS, was inducted into the ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME and in 2014, received a GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. In 2015, CHRIS JASPER received the German Record Critics Lifetime Achievement Award (“Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”). In 2016, Chris was awarded the National R&B Society Lifetime Achievement Award. Chris also received the BET Lifetime Achievement Award and numerous ASCAP awards. In 2020, along with the rest of the Isleys, Chris was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION

Chris Jasper was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 30, 1951, the youngest of seven siblings. While growing up in Cincinnati, Chris studied classical piano starting at the age of 7 years old. After graduating from high school in Cincinnati, he moved to New York to study music composition at the Juilliard School of Music.

Chris received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in music composition from C.W. Post College in New York, where he studied under noted jazz pianist and composer, Dr. Billy Taylor. He subsequently received a Juris Doctorate degree from Concord University School of Law.

THE JASPER/ISLEY CONNECTION

The Jasper and Isley families lived in the same apartment complex in Cincinnati, Ohio. Chris’s older sister, Elaine, married Rudolph Isley. The three older Isley brothers, Rudolph, O’Kelly and Ronald, formed a vocal trio (“The Isley Brothers”) and relocated to Teaneck, New Jersey.

While temporarily living in New Jersey as a teenager, Chris and the two younger Isley brothers, Marvin and Ernie, formed a band, “The Jazzmen Trio”, that played locally in New Jersey. Chris played keyboards, Ernie played drums and Marvin played the bass. Along with Chris, Ernie and Marvin also attended C.W. Post College in New York. While in college, Chris, Marvin and Ernie played on the older Isley Brothers recordings, including “It’s Your Thing”.

THE ISLEY BROTHERS YEARS

In 1973, Chris, Marvin and Ernie brought the songwriting and musical component to the older brothers vocal trio, making The Isley Brothers, a self-produced, self-contained six-member group. Their debut release as a 6-member band on their CBS-associated label was the 3+3 album.

Chris was the primary songwriter/musician, producer and arranger of The Isley Brothers music from 1973 (“3+3”) through 1983 (“Between the Sheets”), with contributions by younger members Ernie and Marvin Isley. Chris’s arrangements and instrumentation as a classically-trained musician, and his expertise on the keyboards, synthesizers and other instruments, have been credited as the foundation of the legendary “Isley Brothers Sound.” In 1984, the 6-member group disbanded due to internal problems.

ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY

In 1984, Chris, Marvin and Ernie formed Isley-Jasper-Isley, a self-produced, self-contained trio, with Chris as the lead singer of the group, continuing his role as the primary songwriter/musician, producer and arranger. Isley-Jasper-Isley recorded 3 albums on their CBS-associated label, and earned recognition with their #1 hit, “Caravan of Love”. “Caravan” was covered by English recording group, the Housemartins, who made the song an international #1 hit.

SOLO CAREER

In 1987, Isley-Jasper-Isley disbanded and Chris embarked on a solo career. Chris formed his record label, Gold City Records, and released two albums as a CBS-associated label. His debut single, “Superbad” reached #1 on the R&B charts. Chris has continued to write songs and has released a total of 16 solo albums to date, including 4 urban contemporary gospel CDs, and has produced other artists for his Gold City label. Chris also wrote and produced a track for Chaka Khan’s “CK” album (Make It Last) and produced and arranged a cover of “Harvest For The World” for the Average White Band. Chris is also currently working with his 27-year-old son, Michael, on music scores for original screenplays written by Michael, a writer/musician and attorney.

In 2019, Chris released his 16th self-contained solo album “For The Love Of You”—a mixture of new renditions of some of the songs that he wrote for the Isley Brothers, and his take on some soul and pop classics. Chris continues to bring that “Isley Brothers sound” he created to music lovers everywhere. His newest release for 2021 is a soulful R&B ballad “The Way You Love Me.”

Chris and his wife of 38 years, Margie, a New York-based attorney and author, live in New York and continue to operate their independent record company, Gold City Records.

Off Orbit is now releasing their latest EP “Sixter”

Off Orbit is a psychedelic jam/groove band from Miami, FL founded and fronted by brothers, Mo (vocals, bass, keys, harmonica) and Marc Oz (lead guitar).  The bros acquired a taste for Rock ‘n’ Roll and Alternative music while growing up in sunny South Florida.  As soon as they could, they started jamming together and soon after found themselves collaborating on different musical projects while interacting with the local music community. After a period of experimentation and line up configurations they honed the type of band that would meet all their musical expectations and ideals.  Enter Off Orbit, its first EP, “City of Wonders” (2012), received positive reviews, most notably from famed record producer, Stuart Epps, for its fresh take on psychedelic Rock and Electro Funk.  Throughout the years since its inception, Off Orbit’s founding members have teamed up with other seasoned musicians from the Magic City to round out the group into what it is today. The diverse sound of Off Orbit can be categorized as a “psychedelic jam-band” but their influences and composition are much more than a genre.  They take the listener on a journey undefined by musical eras and genres with a mix of rock, funk, blues, folk and bluegrass.  The band creates a diverse listening experience in their work, which comes through heavily on their versatile 2020 EP Sixter.  Off Orbit’s Sixter features soulful vocals, bass driven grooves, storytelling guitar solos, and upbeat percussion.

Off Orbit’s “Truth” from their 2020 EP Sixter has amassed over 37,000 streams on Spotify, while “Crooked Suit” and “Got Me Going” both have surpassed 13,000. The band tends to explore political and social topics in their work, but in less of an “in your face” manner. Their perspective as an outsider looking in to our society allows them to peel back the facade and elaborate on all the mistruths and injustices in our country. Off Orbit is not a political band by design, but it’s awfully hard not to be in today’s social landscape.  If you asked either brother they would describe Off Orbit as a Rock ‘n’ Roll band, but with all the diverse sounds and moods they are able to create, it sounds like much more than that.  People who listen to the band for the first time mostly describe it as “psychedelic”. While receiving regional critical acclaim for Sixter, the band continues to stay hungry and search for new ways to express themselves musically, refusing to be held down by a specific genre. Off Orbit’s live performances are a sight to behold, as they bring the same energy from their recorded tracks to the stage. As one of Miami’s up and coming rock acts, the band was gutted by 2020 with few performance opportunities as a result of Covid-19. Instead of being stagnant in these dire times, throughout quarantine, Off Orbit has begun working on their follow-up to Sixter, a full-length album with the first single expected in Spring 2021.

Mike William’s collection of music is refreshing

Mike Williams is a Raleigh, NC based singer/songwriter. His influences include the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Klaatu, Collective Soul, and many other bands and artists. He has been writing original music since the late 1970s. During the 1980s, Mike actively marketed his music in pursuit of a recording contract or publishing deal. In the 1990s, after becoming disenchanted with the formulaic approach record labels were insisting on, he and his brother, wrote and recorded original music at their 4 track home studio in Maryland.

In 2011, after a 10-year break from recording, Mike decided to write and record his debut album Leaving Dystopia. Dystopia was released in February 2013 and continues to be widely listened to across the world.

Mike released his follow-up album, Hollow Moon, on February 27, 2018. The album contains 8 original songs including the popular single, Black Sheep, which is available on iTunesAmazon, and many other online stores and streaming sites.

Mike’s unique style coupled with his fusion of influences shine through in his refreshing and relevant collection of songs which he hopes will help awaken your inner spirit. Enjoy!

“Leaving Dystopia, Hollow Moon, and now the singles ‘Breathe’ and ‘Rainy Day’ are gems. A throwback to when music communicated a relevant message. With a lean and clean production, ‘Leaving Dystopia’ and ‘Hollow Moon’ is about awakening the masses to the dysfunctional and controlling world we find all around us. Yes, the Beatle’s influence is there throughout but in a subtle and unique way. Lyrically the message is powerful and relevant with Williams unabashedly making a case for more truth, peace, and love in the world. Both albums are a fine example of what Indie artists can turn out. The music is thoroughly enjoyable.”

Black Belt Theatre music hits hard and fast

Black Belt Theatre hits hard and fast with the 4-song EP, “Almost Never Give Up”. Featuring two brand new studio tracks, along with cover versions of classics from Ace Frehley & Cyndi Lauper.

Black Belt Theatre is, proudly, a very mid-western band. Hailing from Milwaukee, WI, they embrace the long, beer fueled winters. And the hot, beer-fueled summers. They live and breathe the DIY rock-and-roll ethos of the mid-west. But this is no basement band. The pedigree here is strong, with all of the members having come from prior groups with national attention. In the mid-90’s, John’s band Alligator Gun was signed to Relativity Records and became a seminal punk rock powerhouse that included future members of The Promise Ring and Dashboard Confessional.

Tim and Steve comprised one half of Bender, a popular Milwaukee rock act that released an album on TVT Records in 2000 and toured the country with several major artists. Bert was also a key part of the late 90’s post-grunge Milwaukee explosion, being a member of The Buzzhorn, who released an album on Atlantic Records.

Having all stepped away from music for 10+ years following the demise of their previous bands, they joined forces in the fall of 2013. The objective was simple. In a music climate where loud, straight-ahead rock and roll was being pushed to the fringes, they wanted to make records that rocked.

The common thread that ties the four of them together is their love for late 70’s/early 80’s power rock. Think Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy, UFO, April Wine, etc. Throw in modern influences like Danko Jones, Eagles of Death Metal and the like, and you have a recipe for a fresh, but somehow familiar sound.
